What is a brand?
A trademark is a sign that in the Register of Trade Mark Office (in Germany, the German Patent and Trademark Office) has been registered and is used to identify goods or services of one undertaking. Protection capability, signs which are capable of distinguishing the goods or services of one undertaking from those of other companies. This can be for example words, slogans, letters, numbers, images, logos and colors but also voice command.

The term of protection of a trademark is first 10 years. Unlike patents, the protection for a trademark to be renewed indefinitely for further 10 years if the mark is used in trade.
